General Requirements Psychologist In New York

The practice of psychology or use of the title "psychologist" or terms "psychologist, psychology, or psychological" or any derivative thereof within New York State requires licensure as a psychologist, unless otherwise exempt under the law.

To be licensed as a psychologist in New York State you must:
1. Be of good moral character
2. Be at least 21 years of age
3. Meet education, examination, and experience requirements
4. Submit an application for licensure and the other forms indicated, along with the appropriate fee, to the Office of the Professions at the address specified on each form. It is your responsibility to follow up with anyone whom you have asked to send us material.
